H Pylori and L-dopa absorption, global assessment (last one, i promise)

so, just when i thought i was moving on from H Pylori, Jon Pincus sent me an email about H Pylori interfering with L-dopa absorption, leading to motor fluctuations in those with Parkinson disease. and H Pylori eradication led to symptomatic Parkinson's improvement. (see https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16801644/ ), and for a more inclusive review, see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4130840/

so, a guarded thanks to Jon, a plus for the information but a minus for H Pylori blog prolongation....
-----------------------
and, since i am still on H Pylori, i will add a study done by Neil Gupta and others on non-communicable diseases from infectious causes, noting H Pylori is number 1 globally!!!! (see H pylori burden of noncommunic dz from infection Lancet2020 in dropbox, or doi.org/10.1016/S2214-109X(20)30358-2) Neil was a wonderful resident whom i had the privilege of precepting during his residency, then did lots of international work, much in Rwanda, especially on HIV, Hepatitis C, TB (and probably much more).

If you would like to be on the regular email list for upcoming blogs, please contact me at gmodest@uphams.org

or: go to https://www.bucommunitymedicine.org/ , a website from the Community Medicine section at Boston Medical Center.  This site does have a very searchable and accessible list of my blogs (though there have been a few that did not upload over the last year or two). but overall it is much easier to view blogs and displays more at a time.

please feel free to circulate this to others. also, if you send me their emails, i can add them to the list
